Project Overview

“Accessible Mathematics for Students who are Blind or have Low Vision” is a 3-year ARC Linkage Project LP240100506 running from 2025 to 2028.

Project Goal

Our goal is to provide an accessible digital workbook that allows mathematics, calculations and graphics to be manipulated and shared by students who are blind or have low vision, educators and their peers. The project targets upper secondary level mathematics.

A digital notebook is a single workspace where you can read, write, edit, share mathematics, perform calculations and view your work. It keeps a history of your work.

The accessible digital workbook will:

  • Integrate existing open source software for mathematics in a single platform
  • Support collaboration by providing multiple views of the workbook content.

Methodology

We will apply human-centred co-design methods, working collaboratively with our partners throughout the education and accessibility sectors in Australia.
